Dr. Rief offers telemedicine-based psychiatric care for adults (18+) across California, with a focus on depression and mood disorders, anxiety and stress, trauma-related conditions, neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, and adjustment to life transitions or medical illness.
Generally 90 minutes, though the duration may be tailored to meet individual needs.
During the evaluation, Dr. Rief conducts a comprehensive review of psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial history, examines available laboratory or diagnostic results, and develops a detailed diagnostic formulation and individualized treatment plan. Recommendations may include medication management, therapeutic interventions, additional testing or imaging, and coordination with other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic, integrated approach to mental health care.
Follow-up appointments are typically 50 minutes.
These visits focus on reviewing current symptoms, evaluating response to medications, monitoring side effects, and addressing relevant medical considerations or additional testing needs. Sessions also include individualized psychotherapy, drawing on evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), problem-solving strategies, and mindfulness, with ongoing coordination with other healthcare providers as needed to ensure comprehensive care.
As Dr. Rief is an out-of-network provider, payment is collected at the time of your appointment.
Rates and payment information are provided during your initial inquiry.
A detailed superbill is available upon request, which you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Dr. Rief recommends contacting your insurance company directly to understand your out-of-network mental health coverage and reimbursement rates.
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations or missed appointments with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged a late cancellation / no-show fee. This policy helps maintain scheduling availability for other patients who may need care.
